Sirius and Milutin Milankovic
Sirius is named after the brightest star in the night sky. The name “Sirius” is derived from the ancient Greek: -Sirius (“glowing” or “scorcher”). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary (double) star system – similar to the office buildings Sirius A and Sirius B.
Sirius is located on the street that was named after Milutin Milankovic, a renowned Serbian scientist whose major contribution to science dealt with the climates of all the planets in the solar systems and the cyclical changes of the Earth’s position relative to the Sun. It’s therefore appropriate to pay additional tribute to him by naming our Project “Sirius”
